Pillar 2: Physiopathology & Therapy development

Pillar 2 aims to strengthen connectivity within the rare disease research community in Québec. By increasing the visibility of expertise, resources, and infrastructures available across the network, it facilitates the identification of collaborators, the sharing of knowledge, and the development of more integrated research projects.

This pillar helps create an environment conducive to the development of sustainable partnerships and the emergence of collaborative initiatives, while also supporting the training and engagement of the next generation of researchers. By bringing researchers closer together and organizing information at the provincial level, it enables better use of existing strengths and strengthens the collective capacity to advance rare disease research.

The main objectives of Pillar 2 are as follows:
  • Creation of a centralized directory of all individuals conducting rare disease research, accessible to all network members through the Members’ Area.
  • Development of a catalogue bringing together the research equipment, resources, protocols, and platforms used by RARE.Qc members.
  • Support for the development of research projects and the establishment of sustainable partnerships, notably through funding opportunities dedicated to structuring projects.
  • Support for the development of the next generation of researchers through training initiatives for students and the organization of events that foster community engagement.

Here are some initiatives currently being organized by members of the Pillar 2 working group and the student committee, whose contributions make these projects possible:
  • Organization of the network’s biennial scientific day
  • Summer School 2027
  • Internship and inter-laboratory exchange program
