Financing Rare Diseases: Innovative Models Reshaping Access to Diagnosis, Treatment and Care

June 18, 2026

8:00 pm -

9:00 pm -

The vast majority of rare diseases still have no approved treatment, and millions of those living with a rare disease cannot access the care they need. Traditional health financing systems were not designed with rare diseases in mind, and systemic gaps continue to perpetuate these inequities for people living with a rare disease. Globally, innovative financing approaches are addressing funding challenges for access, and prove that more equitable access to diagnosis, treatment and care is possible.

This webinar offers a practical look at how these models work. It will explore a range of innovative financing mechanisms, including venture philanthropy, blended finance, public-private partnerships, solidarity funds, and outcome-based models. Real examples will show what makes these approaches work, what they need to succeed, and how they could be adapted or combined to fit different health systems.

This second session will move the conversation from diagnosing the problem to mapping the available solutions and will prepare the ground for the implementation-focused discussion in the third webinar.
